Purpose:

Mortar is a type of jointing agent, a construction mixture of mineral binder, double-washed fine sand quicklime and water of properly selected composition and consistency. Mortar is used in construction for masonry and plastering /for bonding bricks, stones, concrete blocks, etc./ and also as a plaster for walls. When the mortar dries, it becomes a hard and durable solder. Unlike plaster and cement mortar, mortar contains microscopic cavities that allow the wall to 'breathe', i.e. to let moisture through, thus avoiding the formation of mould.
