Bituminous waterproofing is produced with a reinforcing base located in the middle third of their thickness. In the modern version of laying waterproofing, they are glued to the base and between the layers by means of gas flame heating, in which the bitumen located on the underside of the reinforcement must be melted by about 1 mm to fulfill the role of glue. For this reason, the thickness of the bituminous waterproofing, intended for gas-flame bonding, must be no less than 3.0mm and often varies in the range of 3-5mm. Waterproofing with a thickness of less than 2.5 mm is not recommended for gas flame laying. These waterproofings below 2.5 mm are used as a sub-layer mechanically fixed under roof tiles (bituminous, concrete, ceramic, etc.) or as a vapor barrier, steam drainage, etc. According to the type of bitumen, they are of two main types - oxidized bitumen and bitumen modified with polymers. As polymer modifiers, atactic polypropylene (APP), styrene-butadiene-styrene rubber latex (SBS) and olefinic bitumen copolymer (OBS) are most often used. Bitumen waterproofings based on bitumen polymers have significantly better technical properties and durability in compared to those of oxidized bitumen, which is why the trend in modern production is towards APP and SBS modified bitumen waterproofing. Roll bitumen waterproofing is widely used in the practice of waterproofing of buildings and facilities.
